Woman accused of robbing gas station store

WEST SENECA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Police say when they stopped a suspicious vehicle on Clinton Street in the Town of West Seneca, they found a suspected armed robber was among the passengers.

Officers stopped the vehicle Ashley Oppel was riding in last Friday, shortly past noon, and found evidence that the 26-year-old Buffalo woman may be connected to the April 6 armed robbery of a Sunoco A-Plus Mart on Seneca Street.

In that robbery, a woman pointed a black handgun at the clerk and demanded the clerk fill a bag with cash. She then fled on foot.

Detectives arrived on scene and were able to identify Oppel as the alleged armed robber. She was taken into custody and charged with second degree robbery and two counts of petit larceny and fourth degree criminal possession of a weapon.
