Record Store Day celebrated in Buffalo

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Local record stores are celebrating music you can still put your hands on.

Stores including Record Theatre on Main Street welcomed people who not only want to buy physical copies of music, but play them on vinyl instead of on CD or digital download.

Those old-fashioned records include albums that aren’t being made available in any other format.

“It’s bigger than Black Friday, bigger than Christmas-time, we do very well. Not only are people buying the special releases, but they’re buying other vinyl records that came out, CDs, DVDs, so they’re just generally browsing, trying to make a day out of it,” Record Theatre manager Joe Igielinksi said.

This is the seventh year for record store day in Buffalo and worldwide.
