Vehicle crashes into several mailboxes, ditch

BOSTON, N.Y. (WIVB) – Erie County Sheriff Timothy B. Howard says 20 year-old Nicholas D. Ball, of Eden, was arrested for Driving While Intoxicated and other charges Sunday afternoon.

Around 6 p.m. in Boston, Deputy Ken Achtyl responded to Mayer Road to investigate a vehicle that reportedly crashed into several mailboxes and then into a ditch. After investigating, the driver was arrested and charged with DWI, Criminal Mischief, Operating with Open Alcoholic Beverages, Imprudent Speed, Failure to Maintain the Roadway, and Refusing a Breath Screen Device.

Sheriff Howard says Ball was transported by ambulance to ECMC for minor injuries.  Ball refused to submit to a blood test to determine his blood alcohol content.  He was processed and released on appearance tickets for Boston Court. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
