Car strikes woman on Camp Road

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – Camp Road in Hamburg is open Tuesday morning, following a serious accident. Hamburg police say 31-year-old Jacqueline Dotzler, from Batavia, was struck by a vehicle and rushed to Erie County Medical Center, where she is in critical condition. Police investigators are trying to determine what caused the crash.

Around 9:30 p.m. Monday, Dotzler was crossing the road and a car driving south hit her. Police have not identified the victim or the driver. They say the driver did stop after hitting the woman.

Town of Hamburg Police’s Todd Ehret said, “It stopped, cooperated with police, he was obviously shaken up, but cooperated fully with the investigation.”

Police say there will not be any charges against the driver. Police didn’t say why.  Police say they will post updates on the Town of Hamburg Police Facebook page.

Camp Road, south of Route 20, was closed for close to two hours Tuesday night.
