Iconic marquee returned to Riviera Theatre

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) – An historic theater in North Tonawanda is flipping the switch on a major makeover.

Crews are re-installing the iconic marquee over the front entrance of the Riviera Theatre. The restored marquee has its original rose and green neon lights as well as a new LED display.

Director of Development Gary Rouleau said, “This is what everybody wants from their generations, their grandparents, their parents, their kids, so this is what we wanted to restore. And we wanted to add that modern improvement as well.”

The sign has been a landmark in North Tonawanda since 1947. The restoration project took about seven months to complete.

The theatre on Webster Street holds more than 175 events each year.
