CASTILE, N.Y. (WIVB) – Letchworth State Park has chosen Earth Day to announce plans to build a year-round nature center featuring state-of-the-art space for programming and technology.

The new center will give patrons a more extensive look at Letchworth’s natural history as well as the park’s unique geology and animals. Local colleges will have access to the facility to hold classes in environmental studies.

The park is frequently referred to as the “Grand Canyon of the East” and receives roughly 750,000 visitors a year. The park covers 14,000 acres that draw visitors to hiking, camping and white water rafting.
