NY attorney general names staff for re-election

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has named campaign staff in his bid for a second four-year term as the state’s top lawyer.

The Manhattan Democrat has hired campaign manager Matt Tepper, who managed New York City Council Speaker Christine Quinn’s campaign for mayor last year.

Deputy campaign managers are Rochelle Kelly and Rich Dziepak.

John Cahill, who was chief deputy to Republican Gov. George Pataki, is considering running against Schneiderman.

Schneiderman in January reported nearly $6 million in campaign funds.

A Siena College poll Tuesday shows his favorability at 27 percent, with 20 percent unfavorable and 53 percent no opinion.

Pollster Steve Greenberg says that probably gives the incumbent a 17 percentage point opening advantage.
