Shopper spots puppies in hot car outside mall


VICTOR, N.Y. (WIVB) – An Orleans County man is charged with animal cruelty after being accused of  leaving puppies in a a hot car while shopping at an area mall.

Monroe County Sheriff’s deputies charged Nathan Stephens, 47, of Holley with animal abuse, three counts of confinement of a companion animal in a vehicle, and aggravated unlicensed operation. Another shopper noticed the three puppies in the car parked outside the Eastview Mall outside Rochester.

The temperature outside was around 70 degrees at 8 p.m. when the sheriff’s department was notified.

Stephens faces three counts of animal cruelty and the puppies were sent to the local Humane Society. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
