Wegmans issues voluntary recall on Easter bread


ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WIVB) – Wegmans Food Markets has issued a voluntary recall of 29,000 loaves of Wegmans braided loaf Easter Bread (17 ounces) because it contains egg, which is not included on the label of ingredients.

The supermarket chain says anyone with an allergy or a severe sensitivity to egg could experience a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they eat this product.

The recalled bread carries the UPC 77890 32431 and was sold in 83 Wegmans stores across New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Virginia, and Maryland.

Wegmans says the the label error was discovered by an employee of its bakery department.

Concerned customers can return the bread to any Wegmans store for a full refund.
