Gunfire kills Orleans County man in Rochester

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WIVB) – An Orleans County man was killed in a double shooting in the city of Rochester on Tuesday.

Our sister station, WROC, reports that Ronald Stern, 49, of Holley was fatally shot near the area of Genesee Street and Hopkins Alley. A second person was also shot, suffering a gunshot wound to the leg. He has been identified as Earl Cartwright, 47, of Kent.

The Associated Press reports both men were riding in a pickup around 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday when they were shot. The victims were found in the parking lot of a Family Dollar store on the city’s southwest side.

Police have no suspects in custody at this time and say the investigation is ongoing.
