BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Attention all book worms! The Niagara Branch Library in Buffalo is celebrating “El Día de los Nínos/El Dia de los Libros“ (Children’s Day/Book Day).

This program celebrates the wonders and endless possibilities that can open up when children and families spend time reading. The celebration also promotes the importance of literacy for children from all linguistic and cultural backgrounds.

At this year’s program, children will join with the participants of the Miss Borinquen of WNY Latina Leadership Development Program in reading “The Cazuela that the Farm Maiden Stirred” and then enjoy the active fun of Movin’ and Groovin’ with Tracy Gibas.

Crafts and goody bags will be available for kids, and each child will receive a free book.

Community information tables, entertainment and refreshments will be provided for all.

This year’s Día is offered in partnership with the Miss Borinquen of WNY Latina Leadership Development Program and the Hispanic Heritage Council of WNY, Inc.

It will be held on Wednesday, April 30 at 5:30 p.m.
