AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – The owner of Tandoori’s restaurant in Amherst now admits he filed false tax returns to avoid paying federal taxes.

In October of 2012, while attempting to sell his restaurant and two related businesses, Ravi Sabharwal admitted to undercover federal agents that he under reported his receipts by more than $250,000. In a two year period, the 58-year-old Williamsville resident kept more than $90,000 out of IRS coffers.

Sabharwal will be sentenced in August and could face a maximum sentence of three years in prison. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
