Budget in Lackawanna slashes special ed positions

LACKAWANNA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Hard financial times could come at a high cost for employees in the Lackawanna School District.

The Board of Education has adopted a budget plan that calls for cutting the assistant director of special education, five special education teacher and four teacher aides, as well as seven other positions.

The $45 million budget plan is designed to close a gap of almost three million dollars.

A public hearing will be scheduled.

The plan goes up for a vote on May 20th.
