HARBORcenter officials reveal progress

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – News 4 took a tour of the construction at HARBORcenter Thursday afternoon.

The Buffalo Sabres say the sports and entertainment complex next to the First Niagara Center will be ready to go by October, just in time to start hosting youth hockey tournaments on its two new ice rinks.

Sabres Chief Development Officer Cliff Benson said, “All aspects of the project have now kicked in. The fact that were six months away from opening, a little more than a year away from the full project up and running, it’s full steam ahead. A lot of energy, a lot of excitement.”

HARBORcenter will be home to a Marriott hotel, a sports bar, a flagship Tim Horton’s and a parking garage.

The Erie Community College and Canisius College hockey teams will also use facilities in the HARBORcenter.
