Judge Skretny to leave top judicial post in 2015

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Western District Chief Federal Judge William Skretny will be stepping down from his post to take on a less demanding schedule as senior judge in the U.S. court.

Judge Skretny, who is 69, will automatically be replaced by Rochester Federal Court Judge Frank Geraci, Jr.

Senator Charles Schumer is expected to recommend a judicial candidate to be approved by the Senate and then ultimately appointed by President Barrack Obama.

Skretny will celebrate 25 years on the federal bench next year. The job change does not take effect until March 2015.
