Kaleida Health names Lomeo president, CEO

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Kaleida Health Board of Directors has named Jody Lomeo president and CEO of the largest private employer in Western New York.

Lomeo has served as interim leader of Kaleida Health since January 31st while also balancing his duties as CEO of Erie County Medical Center Corporation. Lomeo will now step down as head of ECMCC, a position he has held since 2008.

Lomeo will also take over as president and CEO of the Great Lakes Health System of Western New York. Great Lakes Health, which is comprised of Kaleida Health, the University at Buffalo, ECMC and The Center for Hospice & Palliative Care, is the largest healthcare network in Western New York.

Under Lomeo, ECMC made $200 million of improvements to its campus and added new behavioral health center for psychiatric emergencies. The medical center also became a center of excellence for kidney transplants and care.

James Kaskie, who was named president and CEO of Kaleida Health in 2006, was forced to stepped down in January amid layoffs and a drastic drop in the number of patients using Kaleida’s facilities.
