BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A New York Senator has made Time Magazine’s 2014 list of the most influential people in the world.

Kirsten Gillibrand was called “a rising Democratic star in the U.S. Senate” by Time, which annually lists the 100 most influential people.

Gillibrand was listed among 41 women on the list, which is a record. The Senator is included alongside other influential women such as Beyonce, who is featured on the cover, and GM’s new CEO, Mary Barra.

The issue goes on sale on Friday.
