Woman allegedly stole over $8,500 in unemployment benefits

NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Niagara Falls woman has been arrested on charges of scamming the unemployment system.

State Police say between January 2012 and September 2013, while gainfully employed, Tieshia THomas collected more than $8,500 in unemployment benefits. The 24-year-old was arrested Friday on charges of third degree grand larceny, first degree falsifying business records and first degree offering a false instrument for filing.

She is due back in court in May.
