LOCKPORT, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office says a deputy leaned up against a car to avoid being struck by an alleged drunk driver. Wilson resident Shawn P. Robison, 52, is facing charges.

The sheriff’s office says a deputy was conducting a traffic stop on Lockport-Olcott Road Friday night, when a vehicle failed to move over and almost struck the deputy. The deputy reports quickly going after the vehicle with his emergency lights and siren on.

Robison, the driver, was eventually stopped on West Creek Road. The sheriff’s office says he was arrested for driving while intoxicated, reckless endangerment, fail to exercise due care to avoid colliding with an emergency vehicle, fail to keep right, reckless driving and other vehicle and traffic charges.

He was taken to Niagara County Jail in lieu of $500 bail.
