SHELBY, N.Y. (WIVB) – A woman’s body that was found in Orleans County, in 1983, has been identified. New York State Police say the body has been identified as Shari Lynne Ball.

Ball was reported missing by her family in June 1983, to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office in Florida. She had told her family she was going to New York State to begin her modeling career.

Police say she made contact with a friend a day or two after she left Florida, from a truck stop in Virginia. She was never heard from again. Her body was found in the the Town of Shelby by a hunter, several feet of State Route 63, in October 1983. It was believed to have been there for months.
