Sheriff’s deputies arrest man for illegal assault rifle


TOWN OF POMFRET, NY (WIVB) A Chautauqua County man is facing criminal weapons possession charges after Sheriff’s deputies allegedly discovered that he owns an illegal assault rifle.

Dennis A. Wallace, 36, is behind bars, awaiting arraignment, following an investigation into the banned firearm. Police say Wallace was in police custody for an unrelated charge when sheriff’s deputies and Fredonia Police found that he possesses an illegal assault rifle.

Wallace will appear in the Town of Pomfret court at a later date to answer to one count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
