WNY lakes rank on best bass fisheries list

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Bassmaster Magazine has released a list of the 100 best bass fisheries for 2014. Two western New York lakes made the list.

It is no surprise that Lake Erie is ranked as one of the best, with its reputation of being world-class small mouth fishery for anglers. Lake Erie was ranked number three. The magazine says once the ice goes away, there are many large mouth and small mouth bass in the water. Lake Erie ranked as fifth place last year and fourth in 2012.

Chautauqua Lake made the list this year, at number 86. Bassmaster says muskie draw anglers to Chautauqua Lake, not small mouth. It did not make the list in 2013 and 2012.

Sturgeon Bay, Lake Michigan is ranked as the best bass lake of 2014. You can see the entire list from Bassmaster on their website.
