Amherst board votes to ban hydrofracking

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Town of Amherst has voted to ban hydrofracking and use of waste water from fracking.

Monday night, the Town Board voted to create a local law prohibiting the controversial process that extracts natural gas from shale. For now it’s a symbolic move because New York state doesn’t allow fracking.
