Company may not store sewage sludge in Wheatfield

WHEATFIELD, N.Y. (WIVB) – Quasar Energy seems to be giving up on a plan to build a five-million gallon tank that would store sewer sludge in Wheatfield.

The Buffalo News reports the company made the announcement at the end of Monday night’s town board meeting.

Officials were ready to vote on a six-month ban on storing sludge, but tabled the motion. Instead, they’ll try and seek a permanent ban. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
