Residents can drop off hazardous waste

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) - Erie County residents can drop off hazardous waste from around their homes in May. Legislator Ed Rath is encouraging residents to go to the drop-off event at Erie Community College North Campus on May 17th. The event will run from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m. The second event is at ECC South Cmapus on Saturday, June 14th.

Residents can drop off pesticides, fertilizers, pool and home chemicals and cleaners, paint, spray cans, batteries, oil, gasoline, propane tanks and more.

Town of Amherst Police posted the details of the event on their Facebook page. The town’s emergency services department is reminding people to looking under their kitchen sinks and inside their garages for the hazards that may be in their homes.
