Police seek two suspects who shot man, set home on fire

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Buffalo Police are looking for two suspects in dark clothing who robbed and shot a man before locking him in a second story bedroom and setting his home on fire.

Police say two suspects forced a man into his Carl Street home around 10 p.m. on Wednesday, then took cash and other items before shooting the man in the leg. Firefighters say the victim was locked in a bedroom on the second floor as the first floor of the home was set on fire with an unknown liquid.

The suspects then fled on foot. The trapped victim got out of the house through a second story window. Rescuers helped him down from the roof above the front. The man was taken to ECMC and is in stable condition, according to a family member.

Firefighters say they had to be more mindful of their own safety during a dangerous situation like this.

“On the way here we made sure that the alleged assailant was not on location because there has been instances throughout the country of firemen getting shot at, at fires like this,” said Buffalo Fire Battalion Chief Mark Hillery.
