Lawmakers unveil legislation to fight blight

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Two local lawmakers are joining forces to protect homeowners.

Thursday morning, State Senator Tim Kennedy and Assemblyman Sean Ryan will unveil new legislation that would hold absentee landlords accountable. Both say the measure would improve the appearance of local communities.

The legislation would also help secure funding for home repair programs and weatherization. This will allow communities to crackdown on landlords who cause blight, and instead attract new homeowners to resurgent neighborhoods. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
