More than 1,000 kids in foster care in Erie County

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – May is National Foster Care Month, which is fitting for a member of the News 4 family who is expanding her own family!

Two years ago, Diana Threet opened her heart and adopted a boy named Brandon. A few months after that his younger brother Simmarion came to live with them as a foster child.

On Thursday, Diana opened her heart and her family a little more and officially adopted Simmarion in Erie County Family Court.

“The brothers are finally together in our forever family and we’re very, very excited,” she said.

There are more than 1,000 children in foster care in Erie County alone and more than 400,000 nationwide.
