Pair quickly caught after chase on Niagara Falls Blvd

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – Amherst Police made quick arrests of two men who they say attempted to steal items from the Wegmans on Niagara Falls Boulevard.

Officers say 38-year-old Charles Myers of Niagara Falls stole merchandise from the store around 4:30 p.m. on Thursday and then hopped into a waiting vehicle driven by his alleged accomplice, 43-year-old James Jordan, also of Niagara Falls.

Police located the vehicle on Niagara Falls Boulevard and attempted to pull the suspects over, but authorities say Jordan hit the gas and fled. The chase continued into the Town of Niagara, where the vehicle hit a flag pole and sign near the corner of Military Road at Edgewood.

Authorities say both suspects fled on foot but were quickly apprehended. Neither were injured.

Myers is charged with third degree burglary and petit larceny. Jordan is charged with petit larceny as well as several vehicle and traffic violations. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
