Bisons host students after drug-free program

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Thousands of students from Western New York have free tickets for Saturday’s Bisons game, to kick off National Prevention Week.

The Bisons will face the Charlotte Knights at 1:05 p.m. and beforehand, the public will be able to see banners students made about being drug-free. Students who participated in Red Ribbon Week, by WNY United Against Drug and Alcohol Abuse, received free tickets to the game.

Three students will be there to throw the ceremonial first pitches, after writing essays on “Why am I Drug Free?”

The students are encouraging people to make healthy choices as an alternative to drugs and alcohol. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
