Man taken into custody after brief standoff in Cheektowaga

CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (WIVB) – A Cheektowaga man has been taken into custody after a brief standoff Friday night on Babbette Drive.

Police say the situation began when neighbors got into a dispute and one of the men involved pulled out a gun and pointed it at a person. Authorities were called around 7 p.m. and the man then locked himself inside his home.

The SWAT team was called to the area, but police were able to contact the man by telephone, and after an hour and a half, he was taken into custody.
