GOWANDA, N.Y. (WIVB) – Gowanda Police say a man who attacked a person that was preventing him from reaching a woman who has an order of protection against him slipped out of his cuffs and tried to escape custody.
Officers responded to West Hill Street around 4 p.m. on Thursday where they say Randy Hilliker was attempting to make physical contact with a woman who has an order of protection against him. Authorities say when a person intervened to prevent the 36-year-old from reaching the woman, Hilliker attacked the person, causing noticeable facial injuries.
Police took Hilliker into custody on charges of second degree criminal trespass, first degree criminal contempt and second degree assault.
After being arrested, officers say Hilliker slipped out of his handcuffs and attempted to flee. But he was immediately recaptured.
Hilliker is now additionally charged with third degree escape.
After being arraigned in Town of Persia Court, he was taken to the Cattaraugus County Jail on $4,000 bail.
