Rowing club moves practice run

BUFFALO N.Y. (WIVB) – Sunday, the Buffalo Scholastic Rowing Club was scheduled to host a high school rowing scrimmage, but icy waters forced the club to move the event to a spot off Ohio Street in Buffalo.

Students from Canisius, Saint Joseph’s Collegiate Institute and Aquinas High School of Rochester were hoping to face each other in a friendly competition in the canal today.

It’s an important practice before an upcoming showdown.  “For the kids it means they could compete against one another in scrimmage, and just see how they’ll do against one another, to get their cadence together,” said Lee Federiconi who is one of the athlete’s parents.

Next weekend the schools will row in a state tournament in Saratoga. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
