Ex payroll coordinator sentenced to prison time

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A former payroll coordinator learned her sentence Monday for wire fraud and filing false tax returns.

Linda Rakonczay, 58, was sentenced to two years behind bars, and ordered to pay restitution to the Internal Revenue Service and to Orleans Community Health.

The US Attorney’s Office says Rakonczay worked at Orleans Community Health, and from 2001 through 2012 she would prepare and submit reports to the organization’s bank to transfer money from the corporate bank account to her personal account. The amount transferred was just below $500,000.

She failed to report the income and failed to pay taxes totaling nearly $94,000.
