GENESEO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Police are investigating the death of a SUNY Geneseo student who died in an off-campus fraternity house.
Alex Davis, 20, a lacrosse player and graduate of Victor High School was found dead on a couch in a bedroom in the house on Center Street in Geneseo around 5:45 p.m. on Sunday.
Davis was a member of the Phi Sigma Xi fraternity but lived on campus. Students who discovered his body first thought he was just asleep but hours later realized something was wrong.
This is not the first time the Phi Sigma Xi house has made the news. The Democrat and Chronicle reports that three years ago, eight young men were arrested on various drug-related charges when a raid uncovered cocaine and marijuana. Three years before that, the fraternity was the target of an investigation involving alleged underage drinking and hazing.
No foul play is suspected in Davis’s death. The Monroe County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy to determine the cause.
Davis was a sophomore at SUNY Geneseo who was majoring in biochemistry.
