DEPEW, N.Y. (WIVB) – The former owners of the Hearthstone Manor have agreed to refund 71 customers whose events were canceled when the banquet facility suddenly announced it was closing its doors for good.

In February, news broke that the popular venue for wedding receptions, seminars and awards dinners was abruptly closing after nearly 50 years in business. Its last event was held in March, leaving many customers in the lurch.

The NYS Attorney General’s Office announced Tuesday that the former owners have agreed to refund $45,000 in deposits to those customers after the business is sold.

“Today’s agreement ensures that consumers will get their deposits back. Dozens of customers who paid deposits will now have the ability to take their wedding or special occasion to another business,” said AG Eric Schneiderman.

The owners of The Grapevine restaurant are poised to takeover operations at the Hearthstone Manor on Dick Road. Tom and Liza Pane plan to re-open the venue as The Grapevine Banquets.
