Hamburg superintendent finds damaged car, folded note

HAMBURG, N.Y. (WIVB) – Hamburg Schools Superintendent Richard Jetter tells News 4 someone left a note on his car after a budget hearing Tuesday night that said, “watch your back you (expletive expletive) sleaze bag.” Jetter says the students and staff are safe. He thinks someone targeted him to try to rattle him from doing his job.

“When you’re a superintendent in a district of dysfunction, well, there you have it,” said Jetter.

Jetter also tells News 4 his car was vandalized. He says there’s a dent on the drivers side door, some kind of rust smear marks down the sides and the back of a mirror was ripped off. The note was folded in a strange way on his windshield. He says there was also a flyer for a school board candidate on the car but he’s not making any connections or saying who it was.

Hamburg Police are investigating. Jetter says a detailed report was filed Tuesday night.

Jetter isn’t making any connections to recent issues in the district. Just last week members voted to charge board member Catherine Forcucci with official misconduct. The misconduct charges relate to what some other board members consider “inappropriate conduct” on Forcucci’s part, both during and outside of board meetings. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
