JAMAICA, N.Y. — U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at John F. Kennedy International Airport found nearly 18 pounds of cocaine concealed among powdered custard in the suitcase of a passenger from Guyana.

CBP officers arrested Godfrey Cassius last month after discovering eight packages of “Champion” custard powder in his luggage, according to the CBP. The powder tested positive for cocaine.

Cassius, a citizen of Guyana, was arrested for the importation of a controlled substance and was turned over to Homeland Security Investigations.

The cocaine seized weighed approximately 17.9 pounds and had an estimated street value of $300,000.00.
