BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – A McDonald’s assistant manager who brought a loaded gun to work and then accidentally shot himself was handed a three-and-a-half year prison sentence on Thursday.
The Buffalo News reports that prosecutors say Akeem Wallace brought a gun to the fast foot restaurant on Grider Street. While the 23-year-old was talking to people in the dining room, the weapon went off, hitting Wallace in the leg.
He justified bring the gun to work because the restaurant kept getting robbed and said he had once been shot at a bus stop.
The judge noted Wallace has no prior criminal record and imposed the minimum sentence for second degree weapon possession.
