Softball team shows support for Jim Kelly

AMHERST, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Christian Central Academy girls softball team is showing its support for Jim Kelly as he battles cancer. The team will wear hats with the number 12 and ‘Prayers for JK’ on them for the rest of the season.

Wednesday, Jim’s brother Dan Kelly led a prayer before the girl’s softball game and thanked them for the support. Dan said the message is about much more than just Jim.

Dan Kelly said, “Step up and help somebody less fortunate, help somebody who is in need, whether its in sickness, whether its in some personal trials and tribulations that they’re going through so all those things are very important messages as we deliver.”

Dan said Jim went to Erie County Medical Center for a couple of days because he was feeling nauseous. Jim Kelly is currently getting radiation and chemotherapy treatment five times a week. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
