BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – National Fuel Gas customers in western New York will benefit from a rate freeze, according to New York Governor Andrew Cuomo.

A joint proposal includes a rate freeze for western New York customers through September 30th, the utility to refund $5.5 million in excess profits to customers and provide $2 million to fund home-weatherization projects and a furnace replacement program for low-income customers in the Buffalo region.

The joint proposal provides nearly 500,000 National Fuel Gas customers with a one-time refund, and most of the company’s commercial and industrial companies will get refunds.
