Bills boost OL depth with Richardson in 5th round

ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – The Bills continued stockpiling offensive line depth, taking Baylor guard Cyril Richardson in the 5th round with pick number 153.

Richardson, like second round selection Cyrus Kouandjio, has plenty of size. He measured 6-5, 322 pounds at the NFL Combine.

“Once again we’re going to stick with our theme of big offensive lineman,” said Director of Player Personnel Jim Monos. “He’s a big mauler type guard who can gain movement. We just love his power and his strength. This guy has played against some of the top competition and played in the Senior Bowl. We followed him and it’s just another big guard for us.”

The powerful guard was the Big 12’s Offensive Lineman of the Year each of the last two seasons, and was a finalist for the Outland Trophy in 2013.

The Bills originally were slated to pick twice in the 5th round, but they traded out of that spot, picking up a 2015 5th rounder and a 2014 7th round pick (#221) from Tampa Bay. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
