ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) The Bills chose cornerback Ross Cockrell with the 109th overall pick in the 4th round. Cockrell adds depth at the corner position. He is 6’0 and 190 lbs.
According to the Bills director of player personnel Jim Monos, “That is what jumps out right away: his size. You love his size and he’s played there and competed well every year there. he’s a winner, has good ball skills, has good speed.”
Cockrell had 46 tackles and three interceptions at Duke in 2013. According to Monos the Bills expect Cockrell to contribute on special teams as well. Cockrell is known for having a good work ethic and leadership skills.
“My dream has always been to play in the NFL since I was about four or five years old,” said Cockrell. “It’s been slot of patience and a lot of hard work and there is a lot more left to do.”
Bills quarterback and former Blue Devil Thad Lewis told News 4 Sports, “He is a really good player. He is like my little brother and I am excited to see him get a shot I’m his league and get drafted as well.
