BEMUS POINT, N.Y. (WIVB) Robert W. Knell, 66, of Duke Center, PA died Saturday morning in the WCA Hospital in Jamestown after his boat capsized in Chautauqua Lake, near Bemus Point, Friday afternoon.

New York State Police say the 12 foot fishing boat that Knell and 65-year-old Roy Barclay were in capsized due to high winds and heavy rain.

Although he was rushed to the hospital after being rescued from the water, police say Knell died due to complications related to a lack of oxygen during the accident.

Police add that both Knell and Barclay were wearing life jackets at the time of the accident. Severe weather conditions are considered the sole factor in the accident.
