ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (WIVB) – With the NFL Draft now complete, the dust has settled on what’s been a wild three days for the Bills.
Thursday’s trade up in the first round to select WR Sammy Watkins turned out to be just the beginning. The Bills followed it up by trading back in the second round, trading away Stevie Johnson, trading for Bryce Brown, and trading away one of the team’s 5th round picks.
“It was really quite a tribute to Mr. Wilson I felt by the aggressive nature that we talked about going in to this weekend, that we wanted to be aggressive and we wanted to be bold,” said Bills President and CEO Russ Brandon. “We made five trades in the last three days to really change the complexion of our organization and our roster moving forward.”
“We think that any move that we think is going to bring a winner to this city and to this region and to the Bills fans is exciting. So, yes it was,” said GM Doug Whaley. “To be a part for the first time as the man that’s making the final call and with the blessing of Russ over here and Coach and the rest of the staff, it’s very exciting. We plan on big things from now on out.”
