Local moms celebrate Mother’s Day

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Michele Miga is one of many Western New York moms celebrating her first Mother’s Day. She went into labor on Wednesday and 30 hours later Finley was born. Miga said she will always remember the special gift she delivered.

“Best Mother’s Day present ever!” Michele exclaimed.

“I wasn’t sure if she was going to make it in time, but I’m sure glad she did,” said Michele’s husband Frank, of Delevan.

Finley came into the world weighing 7 pounds 15 ounces. She’s been in the neo-natal intensive care unit since Thursday because she was having trouble eating and maintaining her body temperature. Doctors say she’s doing much better since then.

“She’s eating well and her body temperature is kind of holding its own so hopefully she can come home tomorrow or the next day,” Michele said.

Stacy Conti of Cheektowaga also gave birth recently. She and her husband welcomed James Daniel into their family Saturday at 10:45 p.m.

Daniel and Stacy ContiConti said she had a feeling James was going to come early. “I had a gut feeling. He wasn’t technically due until Wednesday but I said I told my family right from the beginning he’d come.”

Mercy Hospital celebrated Mother’s Day with all of their moms on Sunday. Each of the mothers were given a rose and other goodies.

Many of the moms celebrated with their loved ones by their side and their new bundle of joy in their arms.
