Undrafted WNY players find NFL homes

Once the seventh round came to an end Saturday night, the phone calls heated up, with a handful of local players signing with NFL teams as undrafted free agents.

Miami linebacker Jimmy Gaines (Canisius) signed with the Bills tonight.

UB wide receiver Alex Neutz (Grand Island) signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. Neutz’s teammate at UB, running back Branden Oliver, landed a deal with the Colts.

Lockport native David Fluellen, a running back from Toledo, signed as a free agent with the Eagles.

In addition to those four, Canisius grad Derek Brim, who also played at UB, is expected to accept a tryout invitation with an NFL team.
