BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) - A Courtyard by Marriott is opening Tuesday inside what was once an empty state office building. Views from the new hotel show Canalside and the HARBORcenter property.
The hotel’s general manager and director of sales were both born and raised in Buffalo. They are excited to play a role in the development of the city.
General Manager Bob Karmazyn said, “It’s amazing to see it finally here. We’re at the point and the time that everybody has worked so hard from day one on this project. To be from Buffalo, and here we are at One Canalside. Phillips Lytle opened up in October, and here we are in May.”
Director of Sales Wendy Clubine said, “It has just given me faith in the City of Buffalo and all of our good neighbors. The corporate partners we have found, such as 43North, along with partners like the Buffalo Sabres who have been here for years, have been nothing but supportive. The Metro Rail is such a huge unit for us. We can have our guests get on the Metro Rail and attend programs up at Roswell, there are restaurants throughout the city, it’s fantastic.”
The hotel created approximately 50 new jobs, both full and part-time positions.
The Courtyard by Marriott begins welcoming guests Tuesday. This fall a Hilton Garden Inn opens in Lafayette Square. A Marriott Buffalo HarborCenter is set to open in May 2015 and another hotel, without a name yet, is expected to open at 250 Delaware during 2015.
