Deputies: Driver was going nearly double posted speed limit

PERRY CENTER, N.Y. (WIVB) – Deputies arrested a man they say was going nearly double the posted speed limit.

The Wyoming County Sheriff’s Office pulled over Shmuel Gurary of Baltimore, Maryland for allegedly going 78 MPH on Rt. 20A through Perry Center, where the posted speed limit is 40 MPH.

Officers say they learned Gurary was driving on a suspended NYS license for failing to pay a driver responsibility assessment fee.

The 29-year-old was arrested on charges of third degree aggravated unlicensed operation and speeding. He’s due back in court in June.
