Thousands to link hands for good cause

BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) – Hands Across Buffalo is happening at 11 a.m. Saturday, a unique event you can be a part of. Thousands of people will link hands to demonstrate our region’s racial and ethnic diversity and civic pride.

People are expected to join hands across the length of Ferry Street, from the Niagara River to Bailey Avenue, for 15 minutes. You can participate in the event, be a sponsor or volunteer for preparation, traffic control and clean up. Sign up for participating and volunteering is possible by visiting

There’s a high-tech twist at this year’s event. You can use your cell phones to connect with other hand holders. provides commenting to allow for constructive discussion on the stories we cover.
